Reboots, Remakes and Sequels to decades old movies. That's pretty much all Hollywood is churning out these days, and what's worse - people are actually spending money on these franchises.
Cinderella: There's only so many ways you can tell the same story! But here comes yet another live action remake. Countless TV movies have been made, a few re-imaginings in modern times (A Cinderella Story [2004]) and not one but TWO sequels to the original 1950 Disney's Cinderella. Do we really need another one?
Another offender is The Jungle Book. Yet again with a reboot or retelling of the exact same story. Why, Hollywood, why?
Not to mention the sequels - oh god the sequels. Independence day, Jurassic Park and Mission Impossible. Does Independence Day really need a sequel? And not to mention the main actor, Will Smith, will NOT be returning.
Let me start off by saying, may Harold Ramis rest in peace. When this ghostbuster passed the idea (which was going to go on WITHOUT Bill Murray) of yet another sequel was scrapped. Then I guess someone thought "Well, since we can't do a sequel, let's move on to the next cliche - a reboot!" and everyone ate it up. Now we get an all female cast to reboot Ghostbusters.
Disney's atrocities don't end with their own material, they are not satisfied with beating their OWN dead horse, they have to delve into Lucasfilms as well. We all know there is another Star Wars coming, but did you also know Indiana Jones is getting the reboot treatment? Yeah.
This is beyond the point of ridiculousness. Oh, but the goodies don't end there, Spielberg's other work is also getting rebooted, like the Poltergeist. Yeah. Can't wait 'till the next announcement comes.
