Last of the Year 2014

This will probably be the last post of this year. I did not post as much as I would've liked to this year, but here's to the new year!

How about taking a look at what this year brought us.

The Note

Moving from town to town in my childhood it felt nice to finally settle down. Having a husband and a place to call home. This was a very small town where everyone knew each others business, no one can keep a secret for very long. That's how I found out there was another woman.

Rainy Day

Today is a cold day. I haven't seen the sun in a couple of days and, if the weatherman is to be believed, I won't until the next weekend. I also have the flu and all the pleasures that go along with it.

But it's not all bad.

Thanksgiving Day: A Short History

If you grew up in the U.S. then you know the history behind Thanksgiving from an early age. If not, well here's a quick rundown of what they tell you as a child. In the autumn of 1621 a Plymouth governor named William Bradford invited the local Indians to join in a three day festival. The Pilgrims held the festival in gratitude for a bountiful season. This is said to be the "first Thanksgiving."

Seven Score and Eleven Years Ago

Seven score and eleven years ago the sixteenth president of the United States gave a speech at the dedication of the Soldiers' National Cemetery in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. It is now one of the best known speeches in American History and today marks the 150th anniversary of his speech. What most people don't know is that speech was only over two minutes long and Lincoln was NOT the main speaker at the event.

National Reptile Awareness Day

The calendar year is littered with unofficial holidays here in the U.S. of A. Some of these include national vanilla cupcake day, national parents act as teachers day, or national clean out your fridge day. As well as gems like national middle child day, which just so happens to be on my sister's (who is the middle child) birthday and my favorite national lazy day (MY birthday). Well today happens to be National Reptile Awareness Day.

No, not THAT reptile.
So let's pay tribute to a day dedicated to our scaly friends. This post will be about my future pet Corallus Caninus, or better known as the Emerald Tree Boa.

Quick Ten Minute, Meatabolism Boosting Workout

I have a very busy schedule with little to no time to head over to the gym and get in a full workout on most days. On those days, I don't like skipping a workout so I came up with the ten minute workout. This workout is going to help boost your metabolism for the next 24-48 hours. The best thing about this workout, other than the amount of time, is that it can also be done at home or out side if you wish. No gym membership required. It can help with your keto diet by helping you to burn more of that fat faster. Click here to find out more!

History Made With Cameras

Now a days there are cameras everywhere. In the streets, banks, in the coffee shop and grocery store to the gas stations and malls. If you're in public you can bet you're somehow, someway being recorded. Most are there to deter criminal activity or to keep an eye on things, just in case. When things that will go down in history happen and are so well recorded and preserved, they are fortunate to have. Most people have a cell phone and on that cell phone they have a camera. This just makes things so much more simple to preserve. But what about the first few?

First Weigh In

On Tuesday was weigh in day. It was the moment of truth.  I had to go to my gym in order to weigh myself (don't have a home scale). I got on my skateboard and rode over there. I swiped the keycard to gain access and the first thing I laid eyes on was the scale, taunting me, mocking me. I knew that whatever the results were I would do well to not put too much emphasis on them (when you are on this diet you may retain a lot of water weight). I stepped on and pushed the weight over to 200 (it's manual scale) while the smaller scale stayed on zero.

Gateway to my Home

The past few days have been very cloudy here. Not much sun through out the day, but this morning I got what I was waiting for...good lighting. When I go home everyday I see this:

TYMURS

On this morning, 32 years ago, a little girl complaining of a sore throat and runny nose tragically fell victim to an arbitrary murder. Later the same day, another man would become the second victim in this calamity to hit the state of Illinois. The man's relatives would grieve their loss and unknowingly take the same cyanide laced capsules that caused his death, making them the next fatalities in this onslaught. Over the next few days more people mysteriously perished under similar circumstances with only one link between them, Tylenol.

Top Ten 90's Toons

So my last post was prompted by me watching a random episode of Aurthur, one of the more recent ones. I saw how everyone at this elementary school had cell phones and would take tests on books on computers and they talked about digital clouds and such. It was something from my childhood with a modern spin, it was interesting to watch. So, in light of "throwback Thursday", I was inspired to do a list of the Top Ten Toons from the 90's! One of the best things about growing up in the 90's were the cartoons and the following are my top ten. Lets begin:

Remembering Youth

When you're young you live your life day to day having little to no worries, ideally of course. Once you've grown, you can look back and see how much the times have changed. This is most evident when you watch, listen to or read any media that you enjoyed in your childhood that is still producing new content. Not only are there differences that everyone can spot, but the subtle differences, the ones that you notice due to the personal way it seems to make the content feel both familiar and foreign at the same time.

It's whimsical how when the temperature reaches 55 degrees Fahrenheit in September most people think it starts pants wearing season, but when the weather reaches the same temperature in April it constitutes wearing shorts.

Come One, Come All

Welcome inside my head. My objective is to share my view on things, maybe meet new people and to create. I love to build, conceive and construct. Whether it's building models, writing music or creating new synapses in my brain, I love doing it all. I will cover my vast amount of interests on this blog. Anything from cars, sports and nature to travel, anime and pop culture. I work six days a week, have an apartment, two cats and a wonderful wife, so while I may not post everyday I will do my best to post at least once a week
