Boredom

The first use of the word boredom in print was in 1852 by the great Charles Dickens. He gave that feeling we get from time to time when all of our surroundings no longer stimulate us a name. I don't know if it's because of what we have available to us today but I could see how someone over a hundred and fifty years ago could quickly grow bored with what is in their immediate surroundings.
But now?

If you're fortunate enough to have internet access (and if you're reading this then I would assume you do) then there really shouldn't be too many reason why you should be bored. You have the entire world at your fingertips. You can see any monument your heart desires, learn about any culture or just look at pictures of cats.

I don't know maybe it's just me, but I have noticed that the newer generation has so much that I did not have as a kid and yet they still complain of boredom on their social media.

Tired of the internet? Go outside and explore your world. Learn the name of the streets close to you or find new ways to get to your usual hang out spots. The world is enormous to us, there should always be something to keep you entertained.

I understand sometimes responsibilities get in the way of entertainment and that's part of growing up, but while you're still young, with little responsibilities, enjoy life.

I write this because I felt, for the first time in a long time, that sense of true boredom so I got on here and wrote this. Now I go off to follow my own advice and enjoy life.
