To believe in something with all your heart and soul is usually not considered a negative thing. Not unless you take it to extremes.
A recent example of such would be the Muslim extremists killing civilians and fighting with U.S forces. Neo-Nazi's and the KKK are others that have crossed the line in the past.
I write this today to commemorate the ones lost 30 years ago today that were part of MOVE in Philadelphia, the city of brotherly love. On this day the PPD showed their darker side by trying to forcefully remove member that had been disrupting the neighborhood with rhetoric and propaganda at all hours of the day and night with a bullhorn.
Neighbors reported their living conditions were deplorable, at best, and they had children living there. There was 13 people inside the row home and after the incident in 1985, only two survived.
The ones inside the house opened fire at the police and firefighters that were there to remove them. The police opened fire in return and threw in tear gas, the house occupants still would not budge. The firefighters then poured water in there but still the people in the fortified house remained inside.
The PPD then decided that the best course of action was to drop military grade weapons onto the house from a helicopter which erupted into an inferno that swallowed the entire neighborhood. The firefighter and police had orders to the fire burn.
No one was right in that situation, everyone lost. There were no winners that day.
It truly makes me wonder what both parties were thinking that bloody day. Was it really worth it? It astonishes me that people who are supposed to "serve and protect" could let an entire neighborhood burn to ashes.
